The piano key necktie is an iconic representation of 1980s fashion, often associated with the era's flamboyant and eclectic style. This unique accessory not only reflects the musical influence of the time but also embodies the playful and sometimes tacky aesthetics that defined the decade.

It gained popularity alongside the rise of pop culture phenomena such as MTV and the explosion of synthesizer-driven music. Artists like Jerry Lee Lewis and the rise of new wave bands helped cement the tie's place in pop culture.

It was also famously referenced in the movie Zoolander, when the villain, played by Will Ferrell, throws a tantrum and takes credit for its invention as evidence of his importance in the fashion industry.

Making it Magical

I enjoy performing rope magic, yet there's nothing intrinsically 80s about rope. Interestingly, many of the routines I can execute with a piece of rope can also be done with a necktie, providing this iconic accessory with an ideal magical use!
